HUD 6.19 and changes
The latest changes to the HUD-system of Serenity Lost have some major impacts on the gameplay too.
I will try to explain what these changes are and how they affect the abilities.
First and foremost, the biggest step is that now the use of RLV is required for everyone.
This ensures fair play because Victim- and Hybrid Hud users always had to have RLV active but not just to do the capture, but also to make playing in Serenity a more immersive experience. Getting hit by a dart blurrs the vision successively, promoting the feeling of actually being affected, some special traps work the same way and now affect everyone.
The next thing is that now it is no longer possible to leave the RP-Area (that is also kind of the “Action Area” where a victim can be chased down and captured in an exciting CARP) other than by using one of the official exit TPs that bring you back up to the safehouse. Once on safehouse level, it may take a few moments for the HUD to release restrictions and let you TP off sim.
This also means no prey will be able to evade a capture by TP’ing out… When you go down to the RP Area wearing a capturable HUD, you ARE prey and may face capture 😉
Actually we have two “return-TPs” which are located at the two docklike buildings on the East corners of the Play-Area.. the docks and the hideout… but that may change.
Of course those exit points are not meant to be abused to evade a capture or even to get away when already in custody, so no captured prey nor a captor with prey in custody will be able to leave the Play Zone and a 5 seconds delay ensures that it is not used for last second escapes on a chase… once again: you go down with a capturable HUD, you’re prone to capture 😉
Ok, now you will argue that you might want to leave the sim and not be captured on your way out… no problem – the “Sleep Mode” of the HUDs grant everyone a 5 minutes grace period in which they can’t be darted nor captured… enough time to leave the sim. But be warned: using this function to evade a capture, leaves you without a chance for the next 90 minutes and may very well lead to a capture when you ‘really’ wanted to leave.
All these changes are made to lead Serenity Lost back to what it originally was intended to be: An exciting and realistic environment for the immersive experience of not just fictionally playing the helpless victim, but actually BEING one.
Let us all have fun and a dark thrilling experience 😀
